Plate Tower + Stairs

Built in collaboration with ReDesign.Build and Furnish Design, this stair tower is built to float off the walls of the house, and wind around the integrated three-story bookcase tower.

We detailed the 2,000 part assembly out of 1/4” steel plate to fit together like a puzzle, and assemble on site in modules. No welds are visible, and the thin edge profiles create an illusion of weightlessness through the windows of this private residence. Glass floors connect the living spaces to the tower, creating visibility from the top level to the basement.
